SYNOPSIS
A man called Serpico
is a 52 minutes documentary about a very unique cop fighting con artists and
scams in Napoli.
Inspector Antonio De
Felice joined the Napoli City Police Corp in 1985 and since then he has been one
of the few incorruptible and active cops in the city known worldwide for its
criminal activity and imaginative scams.
A man of action, De
Felice has always served on street duty and been insensitive to requests of
blinding his eyes to help out “friends of friends”. His behaviour led him to a
state of isolation that reached the peak last year with his transfer to a remote
service in a back office. He then went to the press that through a number of
articles made public his case and the brilliant results of his past work.
As a result of this
press campaign his superiors created a special task force to fight scams and
frauds and asked him to lead it.
The special squad has
been operative for 6 months now and already has carried out a large number of
successful operations.
Totally
devoted to his job, De Felice sacrifices the time for his wife and 5 daughters.
He begins to be known to Neapolitan fraud perpetrators that fear him to the
point of sending him a clear message last month: 3 bullets in an envelope that
in mafia language is a clear warning. Since then he is obliged to wear a
bullet-proof vest and has to always be escorted by one of his trusted man. This
is not common for a man of the City Police that opposed to State Police usually
take care of traffic problems or minor criminal activity.
De Felice is a very
unique character: he never wears formal clothes but foreign military shirts; his
investigation techniques are very informal but extremely effective; in his
office the usual picture of the President has been changed with a picture of
Rambo. His men call him Serpico.
Following De Felice
and his squad along their daily job we will plunge in a colourful world of
unique scams and show aspects of Napoli that are worldwide known but rarely
seen.
